The purpose of the study was to determine short- and longterm outcomes after Vax-D treatment in a large sample of patients with activity limiting low-back pain that had failed at least two previous, non-surgical treatments. A total of 296 subjects with low back pain and evidence of a degenerative and/or herniated intervertebral disk at 1 or more levels were enrolled in the study. The sample composed of middle-aged adults who were currently working and reported moderate to high pre-intervention pain intensity and moderate pain-related activity limitation. Most subjects had pain of greater than 6 months in duration. In this study all subjects had pre-intervention imaging evidence of lumbar intervertebral disk degeneration and/or herniation. The study showed that patients had significantly improved pain and disablity scores at the end of the treatment, at 30 days and at 180 days post-discharge.
American Back Center and Dr. Peter Peduzzi are one the first facilities in the country and western PA's first and most experienced VAX-D Center. VAX-D is the first still the only medical device approved by the FDA as a non-invasive, very safe, well researched treatment for herniated or bulging discs, as well as degenerated discs, sciatica, posterior facet syndrome, stenosis (depending on the cause), torn discs, and failed back surgery. VAX-D has a documented 70-80 percent success rate, used in over 300 hospital, medical, chiropractic, and therapy settings. Over 3000 patient a day! , are treated worldwide. VAX-D was developed by Dr. Allan Dyer MD. former surgeon general of Ontario, Canada,( also played a part in the invention of the heart defibrillator) , VAX-D was developed with the help of a team of physicians and engineers at major hospitals. VAX-D to date is the only treatment that has proven to achieve negative pressure, forming a suction-like force pulling the bulging disc back into the original intended position of the nerve, reducing inflammation, herniation, and restoring fluid to the degenerated discs. This of course is supported by various peer-reviewed medical studies, in fact VAX-D continues to do research further supporting the effectiveness of VAX-D. The American Back Center in Wexford did research that was included in a study on VAX-D's effectiveness and was published in The Canadian Journal of Clinical Medicine. Dr. Peduzzi continues to perfect his treatment program including many additional items and protocols to increase his office's success rate with even the most difficult cases.
