Best Buy Showcases the Ultimate Family Fun Vehicle; Quest minivan gives Chicago residents a look at the latest in mobile entertainment for a ?Fun Ride?

CHICAGO, IL (PRWEB) June 3, 2004

It?s a tradition as old as the car itself?the American Road Trip. As families all over the country eagerly anticipate summer vacations, Best Buy is launching a concept vehicle to showcase leading edge entertainment and convenience technologies that can be installed in many of today?s cars and trucks for less than factory-installed systems.

With a team of 3,200 technicians and nationally certified installers, Best Buy is a one-stop shop for busy moms and dads seeking to enhance family entertainment and convenience for upcoming road trips. Best Buy offers a wide variety of technology and entertainment products that can make traveling easier and more fun, including a wide assortment of mobile video, audio and navigation options.

To give Chicago residents a first hand look at some of the latest technology, Best Buy will be showcasing the ?Joyful Ride? Nissan Quest at selected Chicagoland locations from June 3-13 and at a variety of special events including the LPGA Golf Tournament in Naperville and the Chicago Blues Festival. The vehicle will be available for in-studio segments and evaluation drives prior to June 4.

Several custom-installed as well as some simple plug-and-play products are highlighted in the Quest. Following is a rundown of the technologies on display:

·Audiovox Babycam/Navigation: This system lets busy moms watch what?s going on in the backseat with a tiny camera hidden in the back and a screen built into the rear view mirror. The same screen also can display a map of where you?re going and is connected to a navigation system that gives turn-by-turn directions as well as points of interest; and if a turn is missed, it will recalculate the route!

·Motorola Bluetooth-Enabled Cell Phone: Wireless technology allows hands-free use of the phone while driving, as well as outside the car. This phone works with a dash-mounted display and auxiliary microphone that?s tied into the car?s sound system. Drivers can place and receive calls without ever touching the phone.

·Viper Remote Start: Allows the driver to start the car from a remote location so it?s cooled off or heated up before entering. It also includes a security system.

·?Drivin? Theater? overhead video system with two 7-inch screens, wireless headphones and integrated DVD player. The two screens have been built into the Quest?s existing factory overhead console and the player is hidden from view between the rear seats.

·Sony PS2 Game System: This leading edge game system is hooked into the video system and headphones and is equipped with a pair of Logitech wireless game controllers.

·XM Radio: This version of satellite radio offers 100 channels of music, sports, talk and traffic/weather reports with perfect digital quality sound.

·Vector Cooler/Warmer: This handy unit plugs into the Quest?s numerous 12-volt outlets and can keep food warm or cool and can be taken out of the car as needed when the picnic bug strikes.

·Vector AC/DC converter: This product, custom installed inside one of the Quest?s rear trim panels, provides an AC outlet to run any number of accessories such as an air compressor, laptop computer or even a hair dryer!

?Entertainment systems are really hot right now, and we?ve tripled the shelf space in stores to display all the solutions we offer, which includes both portable and custom-installed systems,? says Mike Manske, Team Leader for Mobile Electronics. ?Best Buy?s knowledgeable sales associates can help people find the mobile technology and entertainment products that fit their needs, while our trained team of service technicians can get them up and running in time for family vacations.?

To schedule an interview with a Best Buy mobile electronics expert, schedule a test drive or to find out where the vehicle will be in Chicago, call Brian Lucas at 612-291-6131 or Mike Ferrara at 952-224-2939, ext. 12.
